Group Conscience Minutes 5 October 2022

The meeting opened with the Serenity Prayer.
Co-Chair Election:
The position of Co-Chair is currently vacant. Co-Chairs take and publish the minutes of the group conscience. The terms runs from Jul-Dec 2022. The Co-Chair then becomes Chair from Jan-Jun 2023. The requirements are 30 days of abstinence.
Chair requests volunteers; Amy volunteers
Motion: to elect Amy as co-chair.
Result: passes unanimously.
GSC Rep Election
The position of GSC Rep is currently vacant. The GSC Rep attends the GSC meetings as a voting member and acts as a conduit between the GSC and the Meditation Group. The terms is for one year with the option to extend for a further year. The requirements are 30 days of abstinence.
There were no volunteers for this position; we will continue to offer it out at meetings and in the group.
Sharing Time
Motion: To extend the sharing time from 2 minutes to 2.5 minutes per person.
Discussion:
Lori: Likes the idea of extending in general, but given the variation in the number of people present and the length of the meditation maybe adjust the of length shares for the situation at the leader’s discretion.
Olivia: so this is a proposed amendment: To leave the sharing time to the discretion of the meeting leader.
Amendment passes unanimously.
Vote on the amended motion: To leave the sharing time to the discretion of the meeting leader.
Motion passes unanimously.
Jonathan suggests that proposed guidelines for time would be helpful for meeting leaders and volunteers to create guidelines for sharing time.
