Proposals about the GSC
GAA Groups (November 2017)
For the purpose of GSC voice and vote, a GAA group is defined as
1) at least 2 members and one meeting with
2) a primary purpose to abstain from gaming and
3) no other affiliations.
For the purpose of listing on our website, any meeting with one or more members, a stated purpose to abstain from gaming, and no other affiliations may be listed on the website.
Minutes on the Website (May 2017)
Proposal: that approved GSC meeting minutes are posted to the main GAA website
GSC Delegates and Quorum (April 2017)
Proposal:That delegates register with first name, group represented, contact info (email or equivalent), and when their term starts and ends by communicating these facts to a GSC representative (list stored on the website). If a delegate misses at least two consecutive GSC meetings without providing written notice for each absence soon after the meeting, the GSC will no longer count that delegate's absence against quorom until such time as the delegate begins attending GSC meetings again.
Initial trustee selection (January 2017)
Proposal: To move expeditiously to complete the selection of the new Trustees, by suggesting to the Trustees that they elect new Trustees quickly, from the slate of nominees provided by the groups through the GSC, and further approving that the GSC can then vote up or down on this slate by email before the next GSC meeting. This is due to the need to incorporate as soon as possible to protect our literature.
Prep for trustee selection (December 2016)
Proposal: That GAA groups be informed that at the next GSC meeting, the delegates from each group will bring forward nominees for Trustee from their groups.
GSC participation (January 2015)
Members can listen in and speak to an issue when appropriate, but do not have a vote on GSC issues unless they've been elected by a group to a delegate position.
Each GAA group (meaning each group of two or more GAA members who as a group have no other affiliation, isn't taking actions that hurt GAA as a whole, has the primary purpose of carrying the message of recovery from video game addiction, and hold online meetings or face-to-face meetings) can have one representative, called a Delegate. (Later amended in GSC Charter: Groups with eight to fourteen weekly meetings may send two Delegates and groups with fifteen or more weekly meetings may send three Delegates. No group may send more than three Delegates.)
All members elected as trustees have a vote in all GSC matters. In addition, all who have volunteered or been hired to do a specific job (for example, editors for literature, webmasters for the website, or legal advisers for incorporation) have a vote in the matters that concern their areas.

Forum rules
* The business of the General Service Conference is discussed. We make decisions by group conscience, guided by higher power. Those elected as a trustee or delegate can vote on all GSC matters. GAAIS staff can vote on issues related to their area.
* Back and forth discussion of different perspectives is appropriate. We strive to be respectful of all.
* Anonymity reminds us to place principles before personalities.

Literature Proposals
Literature Approval Process (November 2018)
The GSC should not get bogged down in literature drafting or revisions. Any literature drafts submitted by individuals to the GSC will be referred to the Literature Committee for review before the GSC will put it on their agenda.
Ideally, the Literature Committee bounces the idea of each literature project off of the GSC before pouring much time into it. Once the committee has a final draft, they will submit it to the GSC for this approval process.

Ideally, the Literature Committee bounces the idea of each literature project off of the GSC before pouring much time into it. Once the committee has a final draft, they will submit it to the GSC for this approval process.
- If the GSC had not previously decided whether the topic and form (e.g. pamphlet, webpage, flier, book, etc) are appropriate and helpful, the GSC now decides whether or not to move forward with this process.
- A GSC member will send the piece to all GSC delegates and GAA groups. A copy will be posted online along with directions for submitting feedback.
- The groups will be given a reasonable amount of time to review the piece, somewhere between one and four months.
- Delegates are encouraged review notes and feedback from the Literature Committee process on the piece and to promote discussions and workshops among their groups.
- Feedback is collected by the GSC and posted where all GSC and Literature Committee members can review it.
- After the review period is over, the Literature Committee makes a recommendation on whether or not they want to make further revisions or to continue with GSC approval process.
- The GSC decision on a piece is based on the fellowship's reaction/feedback, and not on a line-by-line reading or evaluation of the piece itself during GSC meeting time. GSC members should evaluate the piece line-by-line during feedback collection along with everyone else. (To be clear, the time of line-by-line scrutiny is over when the GSC meets and will not be allowed to interfere with the task of evaluating fellowship reaction, deciding overall approval or disapproval, and pointing to the problematic places that need revision.)
- The GSC approves the piece, or asks the Literature Committee to make minor or major revisions, or recommends that the Literature Committee drops it. If major revisions are made, the process begins at step 2 again for the revised sections.

Guidance on the relationship between the GSC and BoT in the bylaws (August 2018)
Proposal: The incorporation committee writes the bylaws such that:
- The BoT (Board of Trustees) is clearly answerable to the GSC in all things, and does not have the power to "go rogue."
- In the event that the GSC's directions leave the BoT in a place where it must go against the GSC's will or fail in its legally mandated responsibilities, the BoT have the right to pass a temporary measure (granted substantial unanimity in the BoT).
- Any BoT decisions made pursuant to #2 be "temporary" with a clearly defined shelf-life (such as till the end of the next trustee meeting following a GSC meeting that addresses the BoT's legal needs).
