Hello!
I'm Chris E-H and I am a person with Gaming Disorder. I am new to this community and interested in starting a face to face meeting in Watertown, MA for those who identify as Gaming and/or Internet Addicts. The first meeting will be on Monday, April 29th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Watertown Center for Healing Arts on 22 Mt. Auburn St., Suite 5. This may not be the permanent location, but it is a good place to start! Initially the idea is to have a monthly meeting and go from there.
If you'd like to be a part of the group and help spread the word, please let me know.
All the best,
Chris

Hi Chris, I recommend getting on the email list for Boston by writing
boston@cgaa.info to contact the people who are already on the list.
I'd like to list your meeting on our Local Support Groups webpage, but I can only list CGAA meetings for video gaming addicts. There are other groups that want to support both gaming and internet addicts. What you could do is have a half-hour CGAA meeting followed by a half-hour
ITAA (for internet-tech addicts) meeting. If that's what you decide to do, we can list the CGAA meeting.

Does CGAA also include games played on the phone?

From
this page:
Which types of activities fall under computer and video gaming and which do not? We strongly suggest avoiding all forms of electronic entertainment that are continuously interactive, but leave this distinction to each individual. While many of us have preferred online video games, we have also had problems with console games, single-player, solitaire and puzzle games, website games, virtual avatar games, computer gambling, and most other forms of interactive electronic entertainment. We have no rules and leave it to you to decide whether or not you meet our only requirement of having a desire to stop computer/video gaming.
That also means we're there for the gaming addict who played his game(s) on the phone. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop playing computer/video games. The device we used to play on does not matter.

hi Chris
Yes, we have struggled with and abstain from all types of games. See
https://cgaa.info/basic-program-video-gaming-addiction/Any kind of continuously interactive electronic entertainment draws us back into our compulsive gaming behavior.
I'm wondering, what are your thoughts about my suggestions in my other post above?

I like the idea that you suggested. Let me check in with my friend who's co-chairing the meeting and I'll get back to you.

Hi Scott! It's a go. The first 1/2 hour of our meeting will be dedicated to CGAA and the second half will be for those who identify as ITAA. At this time the meetings will be held on the last Monday of the month at the time and location indicated in the original posting.
Thanks you for your help on this!
Chris

It's posted on the site. I recommend sending invitations to
boston@cgaa.info and Reddit's StopGaming.

There has been an adjustment to the time of the Face2Face meeting in Watertown, but it has been off and running since April.
Meeting on the last Monday of each month, the meeting time is now 6:30-7:15 pm at 22 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA. I hope that more CGAA members in Massachusetts will find the support they need with this Face2Face meeting.
