Hi all - Do some of you attend face-to-face meetings? Do you recommend them over the online meetings, if there's one in your area? I live near San Jose, CA, but not sure if there's actually a face-to-face meeting here. I'll be attending the online meetings soon.
Thx!

attend face-to-face meetings?
Welcome Matt. Many of us attend face-to-face meetings, but since only a few are lucky enough to have a local CGAA meeting we attend meetings of AA, NA, GA, or one of the other fellowships.
Do you want to get on the email list for San Jose? You'd get emails when people are interested in a local meeting, but wouldn't have to respond unless you wanted to and only then would someone see your email.
See you around!

attend face-to-face meetings?
There was a guy who tried to start a meetup group last year called South Bay Internet, Smart Phone & Gaming Addicts Anonymous. The link to the group is https://www.meetup.com/South-Bay-Intern ... -Anonymous. He said he contacted the San Jose CGAA mailing list but nobody seemed interested. In the time he was running the meeting, it sometimes was just him, and sometimes one other person, but people rarely came more than once. In the first meeting of the group, back in April of 2018, he listed his name and phone number. I found that later on and called him and found out about the group. (sent you a PM with the contact info)
My experience has been that it takes at least two committed people to get a meeting started. When a newcomer comes, and sees only one person there, they don't think there is any help available. They have to be really desperate to come back more times.
This is from my experience starting meetings in another fellowship, watching various meetings start up and fold, and talking to a couple people who tried to start CGAA meetings by themselves.

I don't have CGAA face to face meetings in my area, and I'm also a member of AA. I strongly value the face to face meetings for many reasons--they are a nice burst of reality.
